The Los Angeles Lakers are the defending National Basketball Association champions.  They will try to defend that championship when the 2009/2010 NBA season begins.  The Lakers welcome their newest star, Ron Artest.  Artest a 12 year veteran, from St. John's University in Queens, New York, will add solid defensive depth to an already high powered team.  Artest solidifies the Lkaers and will make it very difficult for other clubs to compete with the Lakers as they begin their quest as repeat champions.

If you want to see the Lakers in person, there are several preseason games in the Los Angeles area.  The Lakers open the preseaon with two games against the Golden State Warriors.  This first game will be in Anaheim at the Honda Center on Wednesday October 7th.  The second game will be in Inglewood, as the Lakers will dust off their old stomping ground, the Forum.  The game at the forum will be two days later on Friday October 9th.  Both of these games are at 7pm.  There are several other preseason games.  The first regular season game is a home game against the Los Angeles Clippers.  The game will be at Staples Center on Friday, October 27th at 7:30pm pacific time.
